Frequently Asked Questions
This page contains answers to common questions received by our sales and support staff, along with some tips and advice that we have found useful and presented here as questions.

1. What are the advantages of using a thermal printer?
Thermal printers are faster than impact dot matrix, ink jet, or laser printers, especially when time to first page is taken into account. They are ready to go at any time, unlike laser printers that need a warm up period before printing their first page. They provide good resolution and are very low maintenance. In fact, the only moving parts in the printer itself are the roller that advances the paper and the motor that drives it. An often overlooked cost in maintaining laser printers is the expense of sending someone to decentralized sites to replace toner cartridges. These costs often exceed the cost of the cartridge itself. Since thermal printers have no ink ribbons or toner cartridges to replace, their operating costs are lower.

2. What kind of life can I expect from my HECON® cutter?
HECON® guarantees most of our cutters for one million cuts, when operated in accordance with our specifications! Of course, special materials or unusual application of the cutter may affect cutter life. As a result, we recommend that each customer employing special materials or use verify life by conducting cutting tests with the stock they intend to use.

3. Do HECON® cutters only cut paper?
As a matter of fact, the majority of HECON's® applications are for material other than paper! We cut labels, tickets, plastics, cloth, heavy tags, photographic paper... in short, we cut what others can't!

4. Where can I find out about HECON® Business Products?
HECON® Business Products are now handled by a different group. For information on these products, go to www.hightech-ai.com.

5. How can I return a printer or cutter for repair?
Download an RMA form from our Download section and follow the instructions on it. Products returned for repair without an RMA may be refused and returned to the sender.
